Once covered by a road, this stream was restored in 2005 and now runs about 11 km through central Seoul. A waterside walkway heads east from Cheonggye Plaza near Gwanghwamun.

In summer people cool their feet in the water, and at night the bridges and banks are lit up. In autumn it hosts events such as the Seoul Lantern Festival.
