Namsangol Hanok VillageMyeongdong 42
About a 10-minute walk from Myeongdong, at the northern foot of Namsan, Namsangol Hanok Village gathers five Joseon-era houses — homes of yangban aristocrats and ordinary families — moved here from around Seoul and restored. You can look right into the kitchens and rooms to see how people lived.
Behind them lies a traditional garden with a pond and pavilion, along with the Seoul Millennium Time Capsule, buried in 1994 for the city's 600th anniversary as capital and due to be opened in 2394. Cultural programmes and performances run mainly at weekends, and admission is free — an easy way to experience traditional Korea.
