In Mugyo-dong, close to the City Hall and Gwanghwamun office district, Taejinok has been serving gukbap (soup with rice) since 1965. It is a local favourite rather than a tourist spot: at lunchtime, office workers from nearby queue outside. Its signature is sundae-gukbap — pork-bone broth with Korean blood sausage and pork.
The house special, Taejin-gukbap, is inspired by Jeonju's bean-sprout soup, with bean sprouts and cuttlefish in a clear, refreshing broth. Boiled pork platters and hot pots are on the menu too, making it an easy way to try a local favourite between Myeongdong and Cheonggyecheon.
