HaebangchonItaewon · Hannam 6

Haebangchon spreads across the southern slope of Namsan, just north of Itaewon. It began as a settlement of people who arrived around the time of liberation and the Korean War, which is where the name — "liberation village" — comes from. Old houses and narrow stairways still give it a lived-in, old-Seoul feel.
Today many international residents live here, and restaurants from around the world, stylish cafés and small shops have opened. The old Sinheung Market has been renovated with cafés and boutiques. From the rooftops at the top of the hill you look straight at N Seoul Tower with the city below — especially popular at sunset.
